statement of aims

STATEMENT OF AIMS ( 500 words approximately)

You will be required to complete a brief outline of your aims and intentions for the media
production that must be submitted with the production. This will be assessed with the
production and will enable you to explain the ways in which you will apply knowledge and
understanding of the theoretical framework to the production and target the intended audience.

In my work, I will be focusing on music marketing a new artist with the independent
record label "Young Money Entertainment".

When shooting my music video, I will have various locations all based in urban settings. The will be bright natural lighting used to represent the good times and darker lighting either created by bad weather or another method to show the bad times which my artist is going through in the song. I will be using various camera angles to connote messages and to establish dominance of the my artist. One example of this will be a high angle of the artists to signify how he is on top of everybody else. It asserts his dominace. The use of low shots will be used to represent my character doing bad things like breaking the law or him reaching rock bottom. The narrative of the music video will be closely linked to the lyrics of the song. The mise-en-scene of the first shot will be my artists being central in the shot siting down counting cash. There will be other iconography visible in the shot

My artist will be wearing stylish clothes which is linked to the genre of music which I have chosen and is appealing to the target audience. The target audience is people aged between 30 and 49. Within the video there will be a clear narrative of a criminal who is in love and raps about how this girl is with him through thick and thin. The artists will be portrayed as a criminal by his clothes and various other pieces of iconography associated with breaking the law.

The magazine will be called blank. I chose this name due to ...   It will be full of up and coming artists who are of genres such as hiphop, grime, drill and more. It will also have information too due with what is happening in the industry and other news which is relevant to subjects that are important, it will feature topics such as ‘best shows to watch on Netflix. The masthead will be written in a bold purple or red font, red is a colour which is favoured by the entire target audience (16-35) as well as both genders. The cover lines on the magazine will be red and black as that is going to be my colour theme throughout the project. The price of the magazine will be £1.99 as it will affordable to the lower classed target audience. Using physiological pricing swell consumers will think it's cheaper than it actually is. The cover will be an image of my artist with the person he is roaming about.

There will be a double spread accompanying this which will have another picture with another person surrounded by other iconography of the genre. The double page spread will have facts and the backstory of my artist. Questions like life before fame will be answered. It will contain information about the artists roots and origins and what him want to start music. rhetorical questions will be used to interest the reader.

Analysis of adverts

There is a ford car pulling an actor of a huge artic ship. The ford car is shown as shinny and very crisp. The car could represent man against nature as it drags the boat through ice throwing debris into the air. The car doesn't have a driver to represent how the car is powerful by itself. Its a still shot but with movement in it, this can be seen by the snow being kicked up by the car tires and the boat being mid drag through the thick ice.

still shot movement
no driver

Cross platforming Fayes Homework

Cross platforming

In this essay I intend on telling the reader, whoever it may be, what cross platform advertisement is and why it’s used. I will be focusing on people and companies which do this such as Nike and Donald trump as these are some of the big names who use cross platform advertising.

Cross platform advertising is advertisements spanning over multiple media types, whether this be: TV, radio, billboards. Cross platform advertising is used throughout multiple industries such as the fashion and the film industry. It’s used to promote or advertise an upcoming event. This could be to advertise a new film being released, a new product which is being released soon or any other product or event. Nike you this quite a lot either when there advertising new trainers or clothing. They use a lot of posters and social media for their advertisements. TV is also one of their favourable platforms for advertisement as they like to do super bowl adverts. Donald trump also used quite a lot of cross platform advertisements while he was part of the presidential election race. His promotion team did multiple election videos which enticed listeners to vote for him. By them advertising on multiple platforms they are able to reach a bigger range of people as for an example not everyone uses the radio. Cross platforming is expensive so it’s usually big business and popular artists who use that method of advertisement. They would make back the money they invested very quickly.

To summarise my points finally, cross platform advertisement is advertisement spanning over multiple different mass media outlets. The big three is TV, Social media and radio. I personally believe that this is a good idea as company’s/business are able to target various people easily because of the wide range of media used.

Water aid advertisment

Water aid

The water aid video is not like any other charity video as it doesn't use various stereotypes which have become common in various other charity videos. It doesn't show you various pictures of dirty water and hungry children. They chose to take a different approach of showing the children happy and living their life with water thanks to the help of donations. It doesn't manipulate the audience using sympathy, instead they use positivity as the audience wants to keep the children being able to live their life happily.

The video starts with a close up of a window edge with a plant pot on it and a radio next to it. Rain is pouring down outside and hitting the window. On the radio you are able to hear a weather report which says we are due more rain. This scene represents the house of the intended audience which is a middle classed person from the west. A few seconds later we are shown a completely different image of a close up of some crops in Africa. The mood is now warm which is a binary opposite the cold mood of the first scene.

opening scene

- Rain on window in a westerners kitchen
- Sound of rain hitting on the window - cold mood created by use of blue colour - House is supposed to belong to the middleclass audience - On the radio it says " Heavy showers expected" which is something a western audience takes for granted
- The next scene is in Africa and is dry grass
- The rain stops and you hear the sounds of crickets chirping -Claudia's singing juxtaposes the radios sound

Scene in Africa

-we see Claudia walking along a dirt road with a bucket in her hand
- Mood changes to a warmer tone of lighting  browns etc
- Filming looks hand held as if were walking next to her
- there is a boy running around in what is believed to be a school uniform
- The song which she sings is recognisable by the older audience who will find it more personal and donate.
- All of the kids are happy and smiling as they are getting water. water = happiness
- They added claudias name in the end to make it more personal and for people to feel empathy and want to donate

quite a few binary opposites throughout this advert
